Like many others, I wanted answers to basic questions like: Why are we here? What is the purpose of all this? Why do I feel the way I do sometimes which I can't explain? Why will some people never listen? How do I handle people better? Why are some people hard to talk to? etc. The list is pretty long! I wanted to know what made people tick and to improve my abilities and spiritual awareness - perhaps we had potential that just needed to be awakened somehow. Curiosity and a perception that I couldn't quite put my finger on got me interested in Scientology.
For the first time, I found something that made actual sense and gave real PRACTICAL answers to many of my questions, together with workable solutions to many unresolved problems I had encountered.
What is more, I found Scientology did not insist that I believe its tenets, but had as a principle that I was entitled to my OWN view of life and beliefs. This was novel. Not even my family had allowed me that luxury!
So I entered into an adventure, discovering things about myself and others which I would never have found out otherwise. Thirty years on, I still find the subject exciting and enriching, helping me to get more out of life and enabling me to help others too.
At 51, I still feel 21 and alive, yet at 21, I often felt 51 and definitely not so alive! I have now started to learn piano and found that I have an ability to make my own music, which came somewhat as a surprise, but a very rewarding one.
Life is no longer the effort it used to be, nor is it bogged down with complexities, obligations or fear of consequences. This is not to say that these things don't exist or can be ignored - anything not handled has a tendency to come back and bite!
It is only that I now understand myself and life enough to handle them effectively and without worry or adverse consequences.
For me, the time spent learning has made it possible to really live life again and I am happy to help anyone who is curious enough to discover Scientology for themselves.
