I received my first taste of Auditing in 1955 outside of the barracks on Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. It was done in the front seat of a 1938 Olds and we had been drinking a bit of Vodka, my friend and I. Auditing doesn't work that way - perhaps he didn't know any better. I didn't know what we were doing at the time, but in spite of the adverse circumstances it showed me an open door I never guessed existed. I spent the next few months telling my relatives what I had discovered, little as I knew of it. Then I was sent to Japan and lost all contact with Scientology. I left the Air Force in 1958 and went to OSU, where I met my wife. We had two daughters.
I found the book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health and tried to do the procedures on my wife in 1966 but with no success. I probably understood very little of the book at the time. My employer sent me and my family to Phoenix, Arizona in 1974 and there I found my first Scientology Organization. We listened to tapes and got books on the subject. I bought The Phoenix Lectures, a fascinating book on Scientology theory and phenomena. It took a good while to get through it but when I had, I had to know more.
I didn't know of any Scientology Organizations in the Cincinnati or Kentucky area, but my wife found a flier by chance, recognized the name, Scientology, and saved it for me. I went to the mission in Cincinnati named in the flier and took my first course. Since then its been a long eventful upward road. My wife has joined me and we work together in discovering the nature of the human spirit, my main interest since I was old enough to conceive the thought.
My biggest victory was seeing my daughter get through a drug and alcohol period and Scientology has helped. She is now a staff member.
