ello, my name is Bob J. Ross, and here is a little bit about myself:
I was born in Bishop California just east of a beautiful section of the Sierra Nevada mountains. I spent some time in southern California when I was very young but mostly grew up in northern California about 30 miles outside of Sacramento. I had a great childhood and terrific, loving, hard working parents, an older sister, and a younger brother. My family had a small 10 acre farm and was doing the things small farms did. Built a large barn, raising cattle and livestock, growing a vegetable garden, and I enjoyed all these things.
My summers were often spent with my wonderful grandfather, Jesse James Ross, who took us up to a mountain ranch that he was caretaker of. My brother and I would fish and hunt and handle livestock, and have the run of the mountains with the dogs. We'd also listen to the wild and wonderful stories my grandfather had to tell about growing up at the turn of the century and of our Cherokee Indian and Scottish heritage. My grandfather, now in his late 90s is still alive today.
I went to high school in Galt Calif, where I was a fairly clean cut jock and played football. After I finished high school I looked around for what to do next. The United States was in the middle of the Vietnam war and all my friends were being drafted into or joining the service. I decided to join the U.S. Navy, as I'd always loved the water, and wanted to see a bit of the word. I spent 7 years in the Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Canopus AS-34 in 1969 and the U.S.S. Long Beach CG(N)-9 in 1974.
While in the Navy I was able to travel around a great deal, but my fondest memories are those of the 3 years I spent in Holy Loch Scotland, near Glascow. I enjoyed the Scottish traditions and culture tremendously, including the Scotch Whiskey which I admit I enjoyed far too often! The Navy experience also introduced me to drugs and this was a definite turn for the worse for me.
I was discharged from the Navy in 1976 and was living in Elk Grove Ca, when I met and pursued my future wife in Nevada City, California. She was only 17 and a real fireball!
We married in May of 1977 and had 2 wonderful sons, David and Bryan who are now bright, productive young men. They are also talented musicians.
Michele and I have been together for the last 21 years and are still very much in love.
What I do is: Engineering, Construction, Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Communications and other related fields. I have a large skill base and I can apply it to any field when I put my mind to a problem. I am currently working in the manufacturing industry.
I get results. My wife and I also have an interactive marketing business, and a few other sources of income which we have developed.
My personal interests include scuba diving and I am a certified instructor. I'm an Ex-Navy Salvage Diver and Member of The Scotish Sub-Aqua Club in Scotland. I also belong to Naui and NASDS. I'm a Native of California and belong to The Native Sons of the Golden West. I also a registered member of the Cherokee Tribe of Oklahoma as well as the Ross Clan of Scotland.
I'm very interested in Geneaology and tracing the Family Tree.
