ello, my name is Bret Green, and here is a little bit about myself:
I am 24 years old and in the process of completing a Masters Degree in Electronic Engineering. I live in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal (the home of the Zulu nation), South Africa. It's situated on the sea, 2 hours drive from the Drakensberg mountains and nearby numerous game reserves containing an abundance of African wildlife.
I come from a strongly traditional Catholic background. My whole life I was led to believe that Scientology was a bad and evil thing - a "religious" sect with the sole aims of taking your money and brainwashing you into agreeing with their falsehoods.
Eventually, in about November 1997, I decided that I had to find out for myself what it was really all about. So I started reading a few books by L. Ron Hubbard. The more I read, the more interested I became. I gradually read the following books: - A New Slant on Life - The Problems of Work - Self Analysis - The Fundamentals of Thought - Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health - Science of Survival - Scientology 0-8: The Book of Basics. Most of these books only seemed to be telling me things I seemed to already know but had never really put my finger on. It is very difficult to disagree with any of the principles contained in these books once they are sufficiently well understood.
My ultimate conclusion: Scientology is NOT bad. Scientology is NOT evil. On the contrary, Scientology contains a lot of truths that WILL LEAD TO A BETTER, HAPPIER LIFE if they are learnt and applied.
With all this valuable data available, it would be very foolish not to take advantage of it. I wanted to learn as much as I can and reach as high a state of spiritual awareness as I can, as fast as possible.
By the way, although Scientology has become a large part of my life now, I do have a lot of other interests as well, such as Scuba diving, hockey (field hockey, not ice hockey), squash and wine tasting. Within the last two years, I have even gone parachuting 3 times and bungi jumping off the Victoria Falls bridge, which at the time was the highest commercial bungi jump in the world at
111m.
