I have only been involved in Scientology for a short time but in that time I have become a believer. Actually "believer" is not really the correct word because it implies having "faith" and Scientology doesn't ask or even want you to accept things on blind faith (see the page "My Favorite L. Ron Hubbard Quote").
For the past few years I have been casually searching for the "answers" and almost by accident found them in Scientology (see the page "About myself"). I started by reading a few books and not only did I find them interesting and applicable, but I also AGREED with them. That was a major win (a word Scientologists use to describe a gain or realization). Scientology has the answers!
The most influential book I read was "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health" which is essentially a manual describing how to help someone attain a state of less irrational behavior and greater happiness and spiritual awareness. This process is called "Dianetics auditing". As soon I read the book, my friend Matthew and I started auditing each other.
I then proceeded to do the Hubbard Dianetics Seminar course at the Durban Church of Scientology. Although it didn't contain any new information, it ensured that I had a thorough understanding of the basic concepts as well as introducing me to Scientology study technology (which is simple yet very powerful) and showing me what Scientology/Dianetics courses are all about.
Matt and I continued to audit each other and eventually we achieved a major breakthrough in Matt's case (condition). This convinced me that Dianetics really works - another major win.
I then proceeded to do the Purification Rundown which is a program designed by L Ron Hubbard to rid one of the effects of residual drugs, toxins and radiation in the body. It leads to higher energy levels, increased awareness, faster reactions and even higher IQ - all in all, a person feels physically and mentally better after completing the program. The Purification (as it is usually called) is the first step on the "bridge" to greater happiness, awareness and freedom.
I am currently doing a course called "Training Routines and Objectives" which is the second step on that bridge. Since I have not yet experienced the gains this course provides, I will leave it up to you to find out about them when you go to a Scientology Church to discover how to improve YOUR life!
