If you want to find out more about Dianetics and Scientology, the best way to do this is to read an L. Ron Hubbard book on the subject. I personally recommend you read Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health.
This book really helped me with using the science of Scientology. As a person studies the data and then does the practical at each level (like starting at the bottom of a ladder, taking each step), he gains the personal benefit of each step, which is different to other studies where you may continue for years and receive a Diploma at the end, if you pass. There are many ways for anyone to look at Scientology - attending lectures, talking to people, tape recordings, videos, papers or books. My recommendation would be to do all of these things when the free opportunity presents itself, but buy, take home and read the book, Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health.
