About Myself

H ello, my name is Charles Von Himmel, and here is a little bit about myself:

By the time I finally found Scientology I felt pretty betrayed by life. You see, I didn’t feel that anything could really help me anymore. So the question I had to answer for myself before I even read my first book on Scientology was: “Is it POSSIBLE to be helped?” When I thought about it for a few minutes, I realized that there really were people who had helped me. When I was broke, my dad gave me money. When I was a child, my mom taught me how to spell better. Later in life, a friend taught me how to eat healthier foods. Friends would always help me move my furniture, and so on. Yes, it was possible that I could be helped.

That was my starting point in Scientology. I really had to see that it was possible - not definite but just possible - that I could be helped in some way.

Once I got over my fear and confusion that help “equals” betrayal, and I saw that true help really doesn’t betray anyone, I allowed myself to just look at a few of Hubbard’s basic ideas about life, and my musical career took off.

Not long after that, however, I realized (from reading more of Hubbard’s books) that I was still often depressed and irrational. Little by little as I read and applied more of Hubbard’s ideas, I began to see and learn the difference between the unconscious (reactive) mind and the conscious (analytical) mind. I noticed that when I was more aware I was happier. I started to see why perfectly sane people often did crazy things.

I’ll make a 20 year long success story a short one. I had grown tired and weary of music as a business, but because of Scientology I realized what I really wanted to do with my music was to help people feel good. Unfortunately, the business end of my musical career kept getting in the way of that goal. Then I figured out that if I, myself, could feel this good from Scientology, just maybe I could help others feel good too.

And guess what? Scientology is now my full time career. And it really is a wonderful job to save a marriage or help someone get over the loss of a loved one, or to help a teenager overcome drug addiction or to help someone lose weight or even to help someone feel a little more self confident so they can get a better job and earn more money or find the perfect marriage partner.

Doing Scientology for a living satisfied all the reasons I wanted to play music - to create good effects on people - but with Scientology I didn’t have all the problems that came with music as a “business.”

I’m not saying that everyone who is interested in Scientology should do what I do. Absolutely not! Most people who get involved in Scientology simply excel at their own careers (just like I did with music). I’m only saying what Scientology did for me.

Scientology gave me answers. Real answers, real solutions, real happiness.[End]
