ello, my name is Darlene C. O'Keeffe, and here is a little bit about myself:
I'm almost 38 years old and I've been a Scientologist since 1987. I have 2 younger brothers, a sister one year older than myself, and a wonderful young niece and nephew. I love children, and I believe family is very important. I also have an 11-year-old kitty cat that has been with me since she was 2 weeks old.
I'm a single professional woman currently working for the largest commercial satellite broadcast service provider in the world, as an assistant to the President & CEO. I am also starting on my BA degree in Natural Healing. This is an area I am very passionate about. The first pays the bills right now, and with the second I hope to partially fulfill my dream of helping others.
I have so many interests that at times I can't get out of my own way. This may not sound like a good thing, but I assure you it is. I am interested in life now and, unlike years ago, I am now confident in my abilities and I truly believe life is worth while. My interests include reading, creating inspirational poems, biking, listening to country music, doing the 2-step, gardening, taking long drives, going to Broadway shows, playing with my cat... and doing anything that enhances the quality of my life. I love to learn new things, and some day, I hope to make a positive impact on society.
Scientology has become very important to me. It has actually saved my life twice. The very first time it helped prevent me from going insane from pain and suffering, and the second time, doing the Purification Rundown, it helped me to detoxify my body of pesticides which almost killed me. Please, if you have animals and fleas, take my advice: don't use those flea sprays and foggers. They are lethal to our health as well as our animals'. I learned this the hard way, and probably a bit more extremely than most.
The story goes like this: I moved to Miami from New York. Without understanding what summer was like, I did not buy and air conditioner. I left Miami for the summer and left my cat in the apartment with a friend taking care of her. When I came back it was a nightmare. The flea infestation was unimaginable. I started spraying and fogging. The fleas were almost impossible to get rid of, so I wound up fogging about every three weeks until they were finally gone. What I didn't realize was that the chemicals were soaked into my couch, carpet, bed, bedding, and clothing. Each time I sat on the couch I was absorbing chemicals. Each time I walked across my carpet I was absorbing the chemicals. Little by little my health deteriorated until the point that I almost died.
By this time, my hair was falling out; I was losing my eyesight and the use of my legs. I became allergic to every good food there is and all I did was go to work, come home, go to sleep, get up, go to work, come home and sleep. I didn't know it at the time but I had bad nerve, kidney, and liver damage, and my digestive system was shutter down. When I finally realized I was dying, a Scientologist gave me the name of a chiropractor that was also a nutritionist. After about 6 months of his help he turned to me and said, "Darlene, your body is acting as if it was poisoned." It finally hit me that I WAS poisoned, and I had done it to myself!
So when I got strong enough I went to the Dianetics Center and started the Purification Program. It was an incredible experience. When I finished I knew I was no longer dying, and that I was now on the road to complete recovery. The damage was so extensive that it has taken me 4 years to repair my body, but if it weren't for the Purification Program I would not be here right now.
So the moral is: Don't believe the commercials that show a baby crawling around on the kitchen floor as Mommy happily sprays flower scented roach killer into the food cabinet!!!... And that it just might be a good idea to get rid of the chemicals we're all exposed to through no fault of our own.
I will soon be writing a book about my journey, with the hope that I can help others regain their own health. If not for my involvement in Scientology, I would have thought I could never do anything like
this! *Purification Rundown: the purpose of this program is very simply to clean out and purify one's system of all the accumulated impurities such as drugs, insecticides and pesticides, food preservatives, etc., which by their presence and restimulative effects could prevent or delay freeing the being spiritually through further Scientology processing.
