Scientology is the science of life and livingness. One can either be the effect of life, or one can create effects on life. I use to be on the wrong end of this: the effect of life. I had no control over my destiny. I had no real understanding of how to handle life. However, a long time ago, someone sold me a copy of "Dianetics, the Modern Science of Mental Health". The book sat on my shelf for days. Then one day, with nothing better to do, I took it down and started to read it. After about an hour or so, I realized that here was a key to life, that I had been searching for. Using simple engineering methods, the author, L. Ron Hubbard, had been able to outline and determine how the human mind operates. No biochemistry was involved. No understanding of nerve cells were required. It was as simple as sitting down in front of a computer, pushing a series of buttons, and watching what happens. I wanted to change my life and do better. So I took some introductory Scientology services, to see if they would work for me. They did. Then I decided to try more advanced services. They again worked for me. Now, I am totally different from what I was, those many years ago. I am no longer the effect of life. Now I create effects on life, and I work to help others. I have a very successful career. I have a very happy marriage. I am quite respected by my associates, because they know, that I can do, and that I can cause, and that I want to help others. But most important, I am happy with myself, with what I have become, and with what I can cause and create. I consider this quality to be the most important thing that I have achieved in Scientology. Because above all else, a person has to be able to live with, and be satisfied with, himself.
