ello, my name is Ed Bivins, and here is a little bit about myself:
I am a 42 year old father of four, a carpenter by trade, and have been involved with Scientology for 23 years. I have four children, who have all had the good fortune to be born to parents who were Scientologists.
My main interests revolve around my family life, raising my kids to be the best they possibly can be, I also am Committee Chairman for a Cub Scout Pack, sponsored by our sons school, which utilizes L. Ron Hubbards educational technology.
At the age of 19, I had already spent two years searching for answers to the questions that I had. What is life all about? What are we here? What happens when one dies? Is there something more to life than the ordinary mundane existence?
In high school, a close friend had been killed in a hunting accident. The tragedy forced me to confront my own apparent mortality and set me on a search for the Truth. My search was a spiritual one. I went down all avenues, conventional as well as unconventional. I dead-ended with drugs. If the pain couldnt be relieved by knowledge and the Truth, then I could dead-end it with chemicals, I thought.
I heard about Scientology from a perfect stranger, in a conversation that lasted about two minutes. I remembered the address and walked into the scientology Mission in San Diego on June 10th, 1975. As far as Im concerned, that was my BIRTHDAY. Because that is exactly what happened to me spiritually - I literally woke up.
I cant imagine living life without having Scientology technology as my primary tool in understanding and handling life. Think of that - UNDERSTANDING life. Why does that guy yell at you on the freeway? Whats with the escalating crime? Why is the drug problem so prevalent? Why am I just not making it? Or, why am I successful at only CERTAIN things? and think of it handling life. Actually effectively handling the few problems Ive just posed, as an example, not simply explaining them away, or even running away. Do you have the knowledge certainty to handle these now?
If you are a Scientologist, you
do.
