ello, my name is Jim Meskimen, and here is a little bit about myself:
Im an actor, but I also work in various art forms. I have been a professional illustrator and cartoonist, and I am a classically trained painter. I built my acting career by doing radio and TV commercials, and by performing live with an improvisational theater group called Interplay, which I belonged to for 12 years. I helped to establish the National Improvisational Theatre in New York City, which was a school of improvisation and also a theater which presented a wide variety of projects created spontaneously. I performed all over the world with Interplay and honed my acting skills in this way. Since moving to California I have appeared in a number of films and TV shows. My feature film credits include The Paper, Apollo 13, Nothing to Lose, Jingle All the Way, Dear God, The Other Sister and Ed TV. On television I have appeared on Third Rock from the Sun, Grace Under Fire, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Ned and Stacey, General Hospital and Family Matters, among many others.
I enjoy writing comedy and plays, drawing and painting. I love to create songs, and I enjoy the challenge of live performing. My purpose as an artist is to bring the same excitement and satisfaction to audiences that I have experienced from the great performers I have seen.
I also enjoy helping other artists, so I deliver seminars in breaking into the commercial business, and try to help artists in any field to achieve their goals, because I believe in the positive power of artists and understand how tough it is to try to create art in this world.
My wife and I currently perform improvisational theater with a group called The Really Spontaneous Theater
Company.
