I have been in Scientology since I was 25 years old, over 20 years now. At this point in my life, I am CEO of a multi-million dollar market research firm that I helped start with my husband. Currently, I have full responsibility for all day to day operations as well as the ultimate responsibility for the overall strategic planning and growth of the firm. An interesting side note is that I also have five children, including two sets of identical twins. I had five children in five years right in the middle of starting up our company.
My son, Jason, he's 16, is a working actor- you might have seen him in Steven Spielberg's "Deep Impact". The twin boys, Jonathan and Robert, now 14, have competed in gymnastics and diving. Jonathan pursues a love of singing and Robert continues his training as a dancer. All three are honor roll students. The girls, Kirstein and Kelsey, now 10, worked as toddlers on the TV series Growing Pain as "Chrissy". They have also done several national commercials. They participate in singing, dancing and soccer.
My whole family, all seven of us, actively study Scientology through courses and personal counseling. The children study how to study, communication and relationships skills, dealing with peer pressure by developing good judgment and rationale and they use what they have learned. I personally have studied all of the above on a more detailed basis as well as courses that have taught me tremendous administrative skills, how to skillfully predict and handle human behavior and many, many other skills that cover all aspects of life. Once in awhile I look back at how we started the company with only $ 700 and now it is on Advertising Age's list of top 100 international research firms. Sometimes I marvel at the task of getting it right for five kids, where each and every one of them is an academic achiever, drug free, involved in the arts and sports and can demonstrate that they are good human beings. Scientology technology has been there every step of the way for me.
Because I have conquered the no-win situation of a demanding corporate career and raising a large family, I frequently get asked to speak on this subject and to share the successful actions I have learned and used. If I can help you or your organization it would be my pleasure. Laurie Dohring.
