About Myself

H ello, my name is Richard A. Dixon, and here is a little bit about myself:

I got involved with Scientology in April of 1974.

I was going to college having just gotten out of the U.S. Army. In the Army I was part of a nuclear missile battalion for three years and this experience made me acutely aware of the our condition on this planet and the frailty of life in general. I left the Service with a general outlook that there was not much hope for the future. I heard of Scientology and went down to the local Church in Portland to hear a lecture. After the lecture I chatted with one of the Church staff and became very interested in one of the services offered at the time called the communication course.

I paid for the course on the spot and over the next 4 weeks went through the course reading the theory and doing the drills.

The course totally changed my life. I went from being shy and somewhat cynical to be excited and very interested. I learned about the 3 parts of man: spirit, mind and body and I learned that if one was having trouble with something, it was really because he was not willing to communicate. The drills allowed me to gradually increase my ability to confront so that by the end of the course I was not backing off from communicating with types of people who I had previously avoided. It was the first step for me into a better life. I have since done other courses that have given me other skills but this first and most basic course was priceless.

I now own and operate a successful Remodeling business in Portland Oregon where I live with my wife and 2 children.[End]
