I became a Scientologist in 1969 when I was 21 years old. I had been interested in philosophy and religion for some years and had studied philosophy at university along with English and communication. I was working in the advertising industry as a copywriter. I found Scientology to be a fascinating, but very real and applicable religious philosophy.
I attended a basic course in Scientology and I learned about the A.R.C. - Affinity, Reality and Communication - and how this could be used to create understanding and handle relationships.
At this time I was having difficulty with my mother - we were sharing an apartment and we were not getting along very well! I liked the fact that Mr. Hubbard said that one should try the data and see if it worked - and if it did indeed work for me then I should use it to create improvements in my life. I have been doing so for nearly 30 years now. Every time I study another course I find more information that does work for me so I am still studying and applying Scientology.
I have had success using Scientology in many areas of my life - the Communication Courses really influenced my life a lot as I learnt the skills to be able to communicate with any one about anything and also to receive communication from anyone. This has made a big difference to my personal and professional life.
