ello, my name is Tom Young, and here is a little bit about myself:
I was raised in Culver City, a suburb of Los Angeles. I went to a Catholic grade school and high school. I grew up in a big family of 4 boys and a girl. We had a very active family. We were -- and my mother still is -- very active in the local church. My parents were always the leaders of the scouting troops we were part of.
I got into Scientology in 1974. At the time I was a student at the University of California at Davis. I did a simple communication course which make my life so much easier and I was able to handle my courses and social life much more easily.
About a year later I realized that I was again having trouble with my communication and went back and did the communication course again. I got even more out of this course this time.
After completing this communication course I decided to do the Student Hat, a course which teaches a person how to study. Before this time I was able to "study" well and kept a "B" average, but I never felt like I learned anything. After doing this course, I knew what I needed to do to learn things and started applying the information.
Soon after this, I left the university as I felt that I was not learning fast enough. I moved to Oregon and started working at a school. For many years I milked cows and then worked on the grounds and building. I eventually moved into that area of the school which insures the quality of the students and helps out students who are having trouble in their studies. This is what I am doing today.
During this time I got married. We have twin boys who, although they have a couple more years before they graduate from high school, are growing up faster than I would like. I have spent quite a bit of this married time taking care of the boys which I loved doing.
Now that they are getting out on their own, I am able to do more things. I am getting back to some earlier interests. I am getting back into backpacking. I used to do this a lot in my younger years and now I want to do more in this area.
