I have been a Scientologist for a long time now but it all started when I was a teenager and was having increasing difficulties at school and started associating with people who were on drugs and started being curious about drugs, and trying some. I was also looking for a bigger meaning to life. I know there was more to life than the material universe and a one lifetime fixation. I was looking for answers to life.
My mother first introduced me to the subject. I met other Scientologists, did a course, read books and I found real answers to life. Whereas study had become really difficult for me at school, it now became enjoyable and I had a thirst for knowledge. I found myself studying sometimes until l o'clock in the morning because what I was learning was so interesting. (And because I now knew how to study, from having done a course called "The Student Hat" which teaches you how to study. There really is a technology of how to study.)
I learned more about drugs and the effect they have not only on the body, but on the mind. Even though they can give a being a feeling of freedom, they actually entrap one. I self-determinedly steered away from them.
The more I studied the philosophy of Scientology and the more I saw its results in application the more I realized it was exactly what I had been looking for and was very grateful for having found it. I then made a career out of it and helped a lot of people improve their lives and increase their abilities through the use of Scientology technology. Personally it gave me a real purpose and direction in life.
